discover at your own rhythm the landscapes of North-Charente
All the year, sportsman or not, kid or adult, the Railroad Charente-Limousine enables you to discover at your own rhythm the landscapes of North-Charente by an extraordinary walk in Rail-bike on an old railway line. From Roumazières to Confolens, while passing by Manot and Ansac, the open section has a 17 kilometers length. It furrows High-Charente and the Highlands of Charente-Limousine between viaducts, rivers and brooks, meadows and forests...
The Rail-bike is a machine with four wheels and pedals especially studied to circulate on the railroad. Five passengers can take seat there comfortably. Two of them pedal while the three others contemplate the landscape. The saddles are adjustable what allows its use for children as from 8 years. The seats are dismountable what also makes it possible to the handicapped people to benefit from this original means of transport.
You will love rail-bike ! We are waiting for you !

A team of voluntaries, railwaymen or not, enthusiastic about “The Railway”
The Chemin de fer Charente-Limousine, This is a team of voluntaries, railwaymen or not, enthusiastic about “The Railway”.The have created, in 1992, this association “type loi 1901” (not profit sharing)to save the existing rails Roumazières and Confolens. The “Vélo-Rail” has given life again to these rails in 1999. The association aims to replace 5000 sleepers in order
to put in service a touristic train combined with the “Vélo-Rail” traffic. The railway will thus find again its rightful place in local tourism and district economy. To continue the “Vélo-Rail” and put in service a touristic train,it is necessary to replace 5000 sleepers, for that, the association envisages to purchase the railway. We are actually a tenant of the “Réseau Ferrée de France”
It will cost 68.544,18 Euro (£ 39 500 ).Help us to save these 17 kms of Railway Patrimony with a donation.
