The Vélo-Rail begins in Roumazières. At the beginning, a stationmaster invites you to wear the clothes of the 60s.

A long slope will then bring you to the first level crossing the first viaduct.
The viaduct of Laplaud (160m long, 6 arches) spans the Charente river.
The track then threads through a wood. Perhaps the first travellers will see a hind in the forest or a bird of prey on the branches overhanging the railway.

Then, the track goes down towards Manot by a 3 km slope.
Without pedalling, the Vélo-Rail goes through meadows where cows and sheep feed.

At kilometre 7, a small oven is one of the last vestiges left by the workers at the end of the 19th century. Once you have crossed the small metal bridge of "La Grange", the travellers have a superb panorama of the village of Manot and the neighbouring meadows. We arrive in Manot station.

After a large curve under the bridge of Vicroze, the track goes to Ansac.
The traveller then has a splendid view of the valley of the Vienne below.

The railway moves towards the second viaduct of the line :
le Pontarand (100 m long, 5 arches) over the Faye river.
From there, the track starts to its rise towards Confolens.

From level crossing n°9, the urbanised part of the line begins and it threads between gardens and contemporary constructions.

Before the last level crossing of the line, there is a splendid view of the Pont-Neuf and the Old Bridge (15th century) of Confolens, built at the confluence of the Goire river and the Vienne. You still  make some efforts and the Vélo-Rail is at the station of Confolens, facing the 11th century church of St Barthélemy.

Built in 1885, the Confolens station now accommodates the new travellers on the Vélo-Rail etc. An exhibition on the  Charente railroads as well as the history of the railway is in the hall. It is one of the last witnesses of the industrial era of the end of the 19th century, paying homage to the hundreds of workers who, with their hands, built this railway.
